In 2022, the hospitals of Cottage Health saw more than 81,061 visits. There were approximately 48,318 emergency department visits at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital (SBCH).
Trauma Services are fully integrated with SBCH’s Critical Care Services, which include adult, pediatric, and neonatal intensive care units.
SBCH is also a trauma research facility, making significant contributions to the emergency medicine field.
The Center’s continuous quality assessment and performance improvement program is coordinated with trauma research, and includes:
- Trauma rounds
- Weekly trauma charts review
- Multidisciplinary performance review committee
- Trauma registry
- Trauma outcomes benchmarked with a national trauma database of Level I and II trauma centers
