Life Changing Stories
Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery
Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery combines stomach restriction with a partial bypass of the small intestine. This operation creates a direct connection from the stomach to the lower segment of the small intestine, bypassing portions of the digestive tract that absorb calories and nutrients.
Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy
Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy - the outer margin of the stomach is removed to restrict food intake, leaving a sleeve of stomach, roughly the size and shape of a banana, and the pylorus, the muscle that controls emptying of food from the stomach into the intestine. A sleeve gastrectomy is a purely restrictive procedure.
Laparoscopic Duodenal Switch
Laparoscopic Duodenal Switch is a complex weight loss surgery that involves multiple elements. The first is removal of a large part of the stomach, which promotes weight loss because you become full after just a small amount of food. The second element reroutes the food, bypassing the small intestine where digestion normally occurs. The procedure also alters the way bile and digestive juices break down food. This promotes weight loss by reducing the number of calories that can be absorbed.
Single Incision Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Single Incision Gastric Sleeve Surgery is a good option for many patients looking to have weight loss surgery with only one scar in the belly button area.
Revisions to Bariatric Surgical procedures may be offered if there is weight regain, excess weight loss, or other anatomical issues (hiatal hernia, marginal ulcer, etc). These can often be performed laparoscopically.
