Cardiac Rehabilitation Services
Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised exercise and educational program to help heart patients return to healthy, active lives. Qualifying conditions for outpatient cardiac rehabilitation include the following within the past year: heart attack, heart surgery (CABG, valve, transplant), stable angina, stent or PTCA (angioplasty), or congestive heart failure with ejection fraction of <35%.
Benefits and Treatments
During cardiac rehabilitation, patients benefit from the personal care and support from a team of experts including physical therapists, registered nurses, and registered dietitians. A prescription from a cardiologist and a qualifying diagnosis is required to begin a cardiac rehabilitation program.
Benefits of cardiac rehabilitation include improved cardiac and overall fitness with a return to exercise and hobbies, decreased risk of future cardiac events, better management of risk factors (stress, cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure), maintenance of a healthy weight, social and emotional support during recovery from a cardiac event, and improved self-confidence in managing health and fitness.
