Andy Newcomer, MD
Raised in rural Missouri, Dr. Newcomer was a film studies major at Columbia University in New York and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television before getting his medical degree at Temple University in Philadelphia. He was a chief resident in pediatrics at UCLA before becoming a pediatric hospitalist at UCLA for eight years prior to joining the team at Cottage. He and his husband are the exhausted parents of a wildly energetic boy who keeps him from pursuing his love of reading, writing and playing the piano.

Research Interests
- Dr. Newcomer's interests include family-centered care and children with medical complexity. His op-ed about his own experience as the physician parent of a child with a kidney transplant was published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2023.
- He has also edited several textbooks, most recently "Children with Medical Complexity in the Emergency Department" (Springer, 2024).
