Inclusion and Diversity Graduate Medical Education
At Cottage Health, we value the diverse talents and backgrounds that make each of our residents unique.
Diversity a Top Priority
As an academic teaching hospital for some of the top residents in our country in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Diagnostic Radiology and Pediatrics, we:
- Prepare our residents for interaction with diverse individuals
- Foster an inclusive work environment
- Recruit and retain a diverse group of residents for our four programs.
In the most recent survey by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), our residents’ responses to the above priorities ranged from 88 percent to 100 percent agreeing with our commitment to these priorities.
Promoting Health Equity
We define diversity as the traits and characteristics that make people unique, while inclusion refers to the behaviors and social norms that ensure people feel welcome. Our shared Cottage Health values of excellence, integrity and compassion guide us through your training experience.
We are committed to celebrating and honoring the ways our residents and patients differ from each other. And we continuously evaluate and assess opportunities, as well as barriers to ensure we advance fair and equitable treatment for all.
