All Cottage hospitals offer complimentary Wi-Fi. Internet is also available on most patients’ televisions.

At Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, the Concierge has laptops and iPads available for guest use. In addition, computers are available in the SAGE Medical Library at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Interpreter support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at all Cottage Health campuses to help patients and family communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and other staff. Language assistance is available in many languages, including American Sign Language. Please ask your nurse for assistance.

Telephones are by each bed. For local calls, dial 9 + the number.
For long distance, dial 9 + 0 to reach an outside operator. You may call collect or charge to a calling card or home phone number.

Family and friends can reach you by calling the hospital and asking for your floor and room number.

Each patient room has a television with interactive capabilities, including educational health videos. The program guide can be found on the main menu. The remote control also serves as a nurse call button.

We encourage you to watch the patient welcome, safety and rights programs. Additional programs cover advance directives, pain management, infection control, medication use and other topics.

The Cottage Family Suites are 12 comfortable suites for families who have a family member receiving care at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The suites are located just a block away from the hospital.

Cottage Family Suites are provided to family members of patients who are primarily in the hospital’s critical care units, where visitors cannot stay overnight. Other considerations include the family’s distance from home, as well as clinical circumstances.

Guests may stay in a Cottage Family Suites for up to three nights while their family member is in the hospital. If they need to stay longer, requests will be considered based on availability.

Volunteers can be identified by their dark green jackets, polo shirts or aprons, beige slacks and identification badges. Our volunteers offer a variety of services for patients and families, including: gift shops, patient escort and ambassador programs, patient care units and Pet Assisted Therapy (PAT).

For patients in elementary, middle or high school, tutors are available through the local school district. School and study time will be arranged to accommodate rehabilitation. Case managers can help make these arrangements.

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital features a hotel-style concierge staff who put themselves completely at your service during your hospital experience. Ask the impossible—from borrowing a phone charger to arranging international travel and everything in between! The concierge team truly enjoy serving our guests and exceeding expectations.

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital has a robust Healing Arts Program, featuring nearly 600 pieces of artwork by Central Coast artists.

More than 400 Central Coast artists were invited to submit samples of their work and concepts for consideration; 123 of these artists were selected to provide art for the new Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Ultimately, more than 1,200 pieces will be acquired for the system-wide program, including the Goleta Valley and Santa Ynez Valley campuses. A wide variety of media will be represented, including sculpture, two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks, mixed-media art, glass, mosaics, fabric, and photography.
