When surgery is the best option to improve a patient’s life, Cottage Health provides the highest standards of medical care with skilled surgeons using the most advanced technology for surgical procedures of all types.

This includes an iMRI imaging surgical suite (capabilities that only a handful of hospitals in California have), treating pediatric patients in multiple specialties, providing minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery that allows magnified 3-D views to help surgeons operate with precision, flexibility and control.

These days, Cottage Health provides surgical care for patients who need common and complex surgeries and performs more than 14,000 surgeries a year in our hospitals in Santa Barbara, Goleta and Santa Ynez as well as our outpatient surgery center and eye center.

Cottage Health accepts nearly all insurance plans, and when there isn’t a contract in place, we work with patients on a case-by-case basis.

Our Hospitals and Surgery Center

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital

Our largest facility, Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital (SBCH), is a tertiary care center. That means general and specialty surgeries take place there, including neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery and pediatric surgery, as well as emergency surgery for traumatic injuries. SBCH is also known for its Cottage Center for Orthopedics, which includes surgeries like joint replacements, and its Cottage Center for Weight-Loss Surgery, for procedures such as gastric bypass and lap band.

Across the street from the SBCH emergency room, at 2403 Castillo Street, is the Cottage Outpatient Surgery Center, where many same-day surgeries take place, and the Stewart and Louisa MacDougall Eye Center, which includes surgical eye care.

Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital

In addition to general surgeries, Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital focuses on maxillofacial surgery and orthopedic surgeries in its branch of the Cottage Center for Orthopedics. Both inpatient and outpatient surgeries are performed at GVCH.

Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital

Rounding out the Cottage Health family of surgical facilities is Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital. SYVCH is a surgery destination of choice for patients who live in the Santa Ynez Valley. Their procedures include but are not limited to: outpatient surgery, GI procedures and plastic surgery.

Cottage Outpatient Surgery Center

The Cottage Outpatient Surgery Center provides individuals, whose surgical needs usually do not require an overnight visit, eliminating an extended period of separation from home and family.
