The Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Foundation celebrated the 60-year milestone of the hospital’s founders last October with its annual Harvest Gala (formerly known as the Holiday Ball). The event was held on the patio of the Craft House at Hotel Corque and featured a silent auction, dinner and live band.
In 1962, a dedicated group of 68 local women and other community leaders and physicians set out to raise funds to build a hospital in the Valley, and the Santa Ynez Valley Hospital Auxiliary Board was formed. The first annual ball was held that year, and every year since a volunteer board has hosted a fundraising event to help support the work of Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital (SYVCH), helping the hospital to provide top-tier medical care for the community. Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital recently earned a 4 star-rating from Medicare.gov which rates how well a hospital performs on quality measures compared to other hospitals in the nation.
The 2022 Gala benefited the CT Replacement Campaign, which has now raised more than $500,000 toward the goal of $550,000 to replace current equipment with a state-of-the-art Computed Tomography (CT) scanner. The CT scanner is the most used diagnostic imaging tool at the facility, and in 2021, more than 4,100 CT scans were performed. As a certified Stroke-Ready Hospital, SYVCH will use this new advanced scanner to quickly diagnose and treat patients in the most critical moments for saving lives.
Special thanks to generous sponsors, including Jonathan and Tina Grunzweig, ProWest Constructors, Craft House at Corque, Barbara Anderson, Dave and Maggie Dennee, Montecito Bank & Trust, Mike and Tresha Sell, and Rio Vista Chevrolet. Wineries donating wines for the event included Bradley Family Winery, Brander Vineyards, Carina Cellars, Falcone Family Vineyards, El Rancho Market, Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards and Westerly Wines.
The event showcased the heartfelt story of how and why the Santa Ynez Valley has this community treasure, the local Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital. You can watch the special tribute video that was shown at the event here https://vimeo.com/user191609830/harvestgala60.
