FREE Summer Safety and Fun Event

Cottage Trauma Services and Santa Barbara Agencies Partner to Host Event to empower families to stay safe and have fun this summer

Cottage Health’s Trauma Services, in partnership with Santa Barbara agencies, is thrilled to invite the community to its free Summer Safety and Fun Event on Saturday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ortega Park and Pool located at 604 East Ortega St., Santa Barbara.

Designed to ensure the safety of children during the summer season, the Summer Safety and Fun Event promises a day of excitement, engagement, and education for families. Children of all ages can partake in a wide array of activities while learning important safety tips.

At the event, children can enjoy swimming in the pool under the supervision of trained lifeguards. They can also put their cycling skills to the test in a bike safety obstacle course or learn invaluable Krav Maga self-defense techniques. Additionally, attendees can explore a real fire truck and police car while also meeting first responders. The event will also feature lively music, face painting and giveaways.

Parents attending the event will have the opportunity to purchase helmets for their children at the discounted price of $10, ensuring their little ones' safety during bike rides. Expert guidance will be available to provide essential information on proper car seat harnessing, California car seat laws, and important tips regarding concussions, playground safety, and safe sleep practices.

As a token of appreciation for embracing sustainable transportation, event attendees who choose to bike to the event will receive a special prize.
