Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital will host a free virtual Meet the Doctor event on Atrial Fibrillation (AFib), featuring cardiologist Dr. Thomas Watson, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 4 -5 p.m.

AFib is an electrical short circuit in the upper chambers of the heart that results in an irregular heartbeat, which can lead to heart related problems and stroke.

The virtual presentation with Dr. Watson will discuss AFib causes and symptoms, strategies for treatment, and stroke risk and prevention. There will be a question and answer session following the presentation.

Dr. Watson received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco. He is currently serving patients in the Santa Ynez Valley at Cottage Santa Ynez Valley Cardiology, 2040 Viborg, Solvang.
