Founded in 1978 and celebrating 40 years of philanthropy this year, Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Foundation (SYVCHF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to develop, manage and channel financial support on behalf of Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital, serving not only to protect but also to enhance the hospital as a valuable community asset.

According to Foundation Administrator June Martin, the 2018 SYVCHF Board of Directors are Charles “C.J.” Jackson, President; Sid Goldstien, Vice President; Lana Clark, Secretary and Kathleen Campbell, Treasurer.

Returning directors are Barbara Anderson, Jeff Cotter, Judith Dale, The Rev. Dr. Randall Day, Kate Firestone, Dr. William Heringer, Rich Nagler, Tresha Sell and Ernie Zomalt.

The SYVCH Foundation has raised an impressive $31,959,654 over the years supporting many significant hospital initiatives.

For example, in 2017, SYVCH Foundation funded $511,851 in support of the Tele-Stroke and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Programs and facility infrastructure upgrades; as well as sponsored the annual SYVCH Health Fair serving 1,100 attendees.

With strong community support, the foundation completed an $8 million drive to establish an Endowment Fund (2002-2004) for long term needs, and a $7 million Building Campaign (2007-2009) for state mandated seismic upgrades and rebuilding culminating with the rededication of the hospital in May 2015.

The foundation is currently seeking donations to the Patient Care Fund for ongoing equipment and program needs that further facilitate excellence in patient care.

Additionally, donations are welcome to the Unrestricted Fund to enable the hospital to respond to health care changes, and to the Endowment Fund to ensure the hospital’s future financial health.

Donations to the SYVCH Foundation can be made online, over the phone, or by mail. All gifts are tax-deductible and giving may include cash, securities, and real estate, through a will or trust bequest or an endowment.
