We have been dedicated to the most up-to-date, effective and dignified local treatment of mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders since 1995. COPE (Cottage Outpatient Program Experience) Programs and Services
Intensive Outpatient Mental Health Services
Based on the principle of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), the Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program provides skills-based group psychotherapy, family group psychotherapy, individual case management and daily structure, three hours per day, four days per week. Treatment includes psychotherapy, symptom management, education, monitoring of medication compliance and enhancement of the patient’s ability to engage in activities related to daily living.
Intensive Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services
Our substance use disorders treatment program provides psychoeducation, group therapy and multi-family group therapy facilitated by licensed clinicians with a specialized program offered for dual-diagnosed patients.
Fitness For Duty (San Luis Obispo only)
We work closely with the Department of Transportation, professional licensing boards and Employee Assistance Programs to help ensure compliance with return-to-work requirements.
Our ability to provide rehabilitation and treatment in an outpatient setting helps ensure a speedy return to the job for individuals who are required to undergo treatment.
Cost and Insurance Coverage
The costs of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine programs are accepted by most individual and group insurance plans. Private pay plans are also available to those without insurance coverage. The Santa Barbara location accepts Medicare.

COPE intensive Outpatient Programs are part of not-for-profit Cottage Health, which is comprised of three acute care hospitals in Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Santa Ynez. Cottage Outpatient Center is licensed by the State of California Department of Healthcare Services and accredited by the Joint Commission.
